Internship Support

The University of Michigan School of Public Health Careers Team helps students in their ongoing professional development. The Careers Team can support students in preparing  application materials, including resumes/CVs, cover letters, personal statements, etc., for positions and funding requests. They can also help with networking, informational interviews, interview preparation (including mock interviews), and negotiations once students secure a position.

*While students at all levels are welcome to explore and complete internship opportunities, most opportunities are geared toward master's students and fulfilling curriculum requirements

Office of Public Health Practice and Global Engagement Global Public Health Master's Level Internship Fund

U-M SPH master's level students are invited to apply for funding to support internships in global public health abroad, in the U.S., and with indigenous communities. Learn more about Global Public Health Internship Funding deadline and award amounts on our website. 

We also help students identify and navigate applying for other global funding opportunities across campus.

SPH Internship Fund

 This award is meant to help ease the burden for University of Michigan School of Public Health Master's students completing required unpaid or underpaid internships. Women’s Health Internship Fund

This award is available to support University of Michigan School of Public Health students (undergraduate or master's) pursuing internships with a women’s health focus. Region V Public Health Training Center Funding

The Region V Public Health Training Center provides funding for undergraduate and graduate student summer internships.

Rackham Graduate School Support (PhD)

Mark and Myra Sorensen International Travel Scholarship

The Mark and Myra Sorensen International Travel Scholarship is designed to support students who will participate in study, internship, volunteer, or research programs abroad. The scholarship's goal is to fund a diverse array of students, regardless of field of study. The Global Engagement and Education Abroad (GEEA) team at the International Center manages the Sorensen Scholarship.

Awards will be made in the amount of at least $750 to cover expenses such as program fees, transportation, room and board, and/or local excursions made in connection with the project. Scholarship awards are contingent upon the availability of funds.
