ACAP Mission Statement

Advisory Committee on Academic Programs (ACAP) Mission Statement

The Advisory Committee on Academic Programs (ACAP) is composed of a faculty
member from each of the six departments and a single representative of the
School of Public Health’s undergraduate program. Committee membership
represents the school’s faculty’s expertise relating to graduate and undergraduate
curricular requirements set by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
All ACAP members are required to share decisions and information with their
department program coordinators, department chairs, and department
admissions/curriculum chairs.

ACAP is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of all graduate
and undergraduate academic programs in the School of Public Health (SPH). Its
charges include:

  1. Ensuring availability of appropriate courses that satisfy the core curriculum
requirements for SPH MPH, MHSA, MPH Online and MHI degree
    students.
  2. Reviewing and approving proposals for new graduate and undergraduate
    courses and degree programs.
  3. Reviewing and approving courses undergoing substantial revisions that
will affect other departments and programs.
  4. Developing measures and indicators (including a data base and
information system) to periodically assess the SPH’s academic programs.
  5. Reviewing and approving curricular changes to the BS/BA undergraduate
programs in collaboration with the SPH undergraduate program.
  6. Reviewing and approving schoolwide academic policies

This committee meets monthly throughout the academic year. Results of
committee actions are presented to the SPH faculty for discussion and approval at
SPH faculty meetings.
